Just a side note here about depression. Being stuck certainly FEELS like depression, but while being clinically depressed holds your life hostage and stuck, being stuck isn't necessarily depression. As a licensed counselor, I'll help you sort out which is which, to be absolutely certain that you are getting the support you need. If we're talking about true clinical depression, we'll work with either naturopathic and alopathic doctors (ND's & MD's) who help balance your brain chemistry so you can access your own inner strength and wisdom.

As an expert in change, I'll help you discover what specific beliefs, skills, actions and resources are needed to complete the shifts you are asking for. It really isn't a matter of force of will, most people already have enough will power (like for getting to work on time, for example). It's more about changing in a way that includes creating a support system for the new plan as well as creating an environment of self responsibility and self-love.

We'll also have to design appropriately tiny steps toward the shift so as to not alarm the internal "flight or flight" mechanism. This alarm system both keeps us alive, and can de-rail the new lifestyle.
