I've had a rich and varied life so far, and I've love most of it. There's a
bumper sticker that has always struck me as tragic, "I owe, I owe, so off to work
I go". Mostly, the icky feeling of going to work and not loving what
you do. My motto has been - I do it as long as I mostly love it, then I'll find
the next thing I love.
[Note to self - motto applies to work life and exercise life,
not husband or family life.]
I loved being a church organist, choir director, and voice
teacher. Next, I loved being a corporate computer science engineer.
Now,
I've found my groove as a counselor and life coach. Thinking back, I've always
been that, even in college, friends were seeking me out for support and advice.
On the way, I've grown in my relationship with my husband of 40 years. We raised
two wonderful sons who live nearby with their wives and children.
I did have my own personal challenge with cancer 8 years ago. For us survivors,
we all name that experience as life changing. The title of one of my favorite books,
"I Will not Die an Unlived Life" pretty much says it all. Today I insist that I
create balance in my personal and work life, and that I bring my full energy
and focus with me when I come to my office. I try to remember not to sweat the
small stuff, and that, really, it's
all just small stuff - unless, of course we're talking about my CHOCOLATE, then, it's
life and death.
I have been in private practice since 1994. I have supported the
healing
journey of hundreds of people using my unique blend of techniques that
identify both strengths and dysfunctions in the physical, emotional, and
spiritual aspects of a
person's being. I love my work and am pleased to be of service in this way.
As you'll see below, I have lots of certifications, degrees and licenses. What I'm most
proud of, however,
is that I finally realize that I'm loveable and acceptable just the way
I am, and another certification, degree or license bears no relation to Who I Am.
My formal training includes:
- Graduate of the Authentic Happiness Coaching program
- Graduate of the Institute of Life Coach Training
- Graduate of the Barbara Brennan School of Healing
- Graduate and past faculty member of the Oregon School of Massage
- Licensed massage therapist in the State of Oregon
